![]() ![]() | Paradis, Andre - Andre's Hip-HopHip-Hop/House/Electronic | 1992This LP was meant to accompany hip-hop dance routines. Andre Paradis is a dancer, and as far as I can tell Andre Paradis didn't put out any other music - I'm assuming he is the one rapping on a few tracks, but I don't know for sure and I also don't know if he is also an instrumentalist. None of the instrumentalists or the female vocalist are credited on the LP. It looks like Paradis is now a realtionship coach based in Los Angeles. |

Flo was singing from a young age and became a Christian and gospel singer in her teenage years. She appeared regularly as a guest on Jack Wyrtzen's "Word Of Life" program. Price released many LPs in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, including a few children's albums and a even a pair of sci-fi Christmas albums: Christmas 2001: A Space-Age Adventure and Christmas 2020: The Return Of Orion And Myah Flo Price composed, wrote, and performed many of the songs on her LPs, but the only original on this LP, her first, is the title track. The back cover of the LP jacket mentions that Flo lived in Chicago with her husband and children, and I've found elsewhere that she lived in Valparaiso, Indiana and Southern California throughout her adult life. I don't know if Flo is still alive or if she continued recording music into the 1990s and beyond. In addition to her solo career, she was also a member of The C.A.U.S.E., Christian Artists United To Save The Earth. This group was the Christian music community's answer to "We Are The World" and included other Christian artists such as Amy Grant. Outside of music Flo authored at least three cookbooks: Coffee-Time Desserts (1969) and Casseroles I Have Known (1973), and Super Salads (1974). She was also 'seen nationwide' as the hostess of children's television show "Treehouse Club", although I can't find any information about this television show. |
![]() | Primitive Quartet - Almost HomeBluegrass-Gospel | North Carolina | 19781978 LP from North Carolina bluegrass gospel band The Primitive Quartet, released on Primitive Records. From blueridgeheritage.com: "The Primitive Quartet began in 1973, when two sets of brothers, Reagan and Larry Riddle and Furman and Norman Wilson, carried a guitar and mandolin with them on a fishing trip to Fontana Lake. The Riddles had grown up on farms in Madison and Buncombe Counties, and the Wilson brothers, originally from Franklin, learned to sing shape notes from their father, who was a minister for fifty-seven years. The boys all sang at home and in church, but that night in Graham County was when they first sang in four-part harmony. After the fishing trip, with the encouragement of their parents and pastor, they began to sing together at area churches, calling themselves the Riddle-Wilson Quartet. The Riddle and Wilson brothers went on the road as full-time musicians in 1978. Now called the Primitive Quartet, in honor of the old-time gospel singing that inspires them, the Riddles and Norman Wilson are joined by Randy Fox and Jeff Tolbert, and by Reagan and Larry’s brother Mike, who joined the group when Furman Wilson was called to the ministry. They have recorded several albums and have toured throughout the United States and abroad. The group was the subject of a BBC documentary in 1984, and Singing News has listed them among the top five nominees for its readers’ Band of the Year award for several years consecutively. All but one of “the Primitives” live in Candler." The Primitive Quartet disbanded in 2023 after playing a small farewell tour. You can find their website at primitivequartet.com |

![]() | Prophet, Ronnie - Ronnie ProphetCountry | Canada | 1976From the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame website (ottawacountrymusichof.org): "Ronnie Prophet was born in Hawkesbury, Ontario, across the Ottawa River from his boyhood home in Calumet, Quebec. At the age of 11, Ronnie started to develop expertise with the piano, mandolin, guitar and many other instruments. He eventually chose the guitar and, in his mid-teens, started to play local clubs. He teamed with school chum, Dougie Trineer, and moved to Montreal where he soon became a hit. The sixties saw Ronnie so successful in the lounges of the USA that, in 1965, he applied for and received papers to move to the United States. Initially, Fort Lauderdale was home; then, with bookings and marquee profile, he moved to Nashville to perform on a regular basis at the Carousel Club. In 1970 and the years to follow, Ronnie teamed with Danny Thomas through the William Morris Agency, to play Vegas, Tahoe and Reno. These tours were always followed by a return to the Carousel. In 1972, after guesting on the Tommy Hunter Show, Ronnie was offered his own show on the CBC. Following two summer replacement series, Ronnie moved to CTV where, for the next seven years, he hosted "Grand Old Country" and "Rocky Mountain Inn". From a humble 1960 start on CHLT-TV Sherbrooke to a network host was a giant step that had the added bonus of enhancing is recording career. His early career in recording was established from a home-based studio but now, with an RCA contract, his release of "Sanctuary" and other solid chart hits brought new fortune. Ronnie Prophet has been called the performers’ performer. His career achievements include almost every Canadian music industry award and a nomination, along with his wife, Glory-Anne Carriere, for "Duo of the Year". Ronnie has released over two dozen albums and forty singles and has hosted numerous Canadian TV specials as well as England’s prestigious Wembley Festival on several occasions. Tours with Danny Thomas and Perry Como, guest appearances on almost every prominent TV talk show, and trips to England, Germany, Holland, Sweden and New Zealand have all contributed to his international status. Ronnie and Glory-Anne are currently living and performing in the booming country music mecca of Branson, Missouri. Ronnie, country singer, musician and comedian, died with loving family and friends at his side on March 2, 2018." |
